German Club Annual Oktoberfest

Audrey White, Sandscript Author

German club’s annual Oktoberfest made its reappearance this year with traditional German festivities and food. At Oktoberfest, participants enjoyed bratwurst with sauerkraut, Apfelschorle (a drink made of mineral water and apple juice), Bavarian pretzels, bags of chips, and soda. During the event, students casually kicked around a soccer ball and were free to sit at tables and enjoy time with their friends. German music played from the food table, added to the merriment of the festival. CHS German teacher Herr Knauff cooked up the bratwurst and hotdogs on the grill while wearing an apron taking the appearance of lederhosen in accordance with a Bavarian Wool Alpine Hat. Students joined in Fliegerlied- a standard Oktoberfest song, and all the students joined in to dance with the music. For those who  missed this first German club meeting and wish to attend a future German club meeting, be sure to listen for the announcements, pick up a German club form, and bring the club fee of $5 to the next meeting.
