The Chesterton Trojans took on the Lake Central Indians in last Friday’s home game. With a total of 265 yards, 76 of those were from passing, the remaining 189 yards were rushing yards. Chris Mullen had all 76 passing yards, while Ethan Troy provided 77 rushing yards, and Jackson Westmoreland added 29 receiving yards. Defensively, Gage Demarco led the team with 7 tackles,  closely followed by Keegan Wrigley and Matthew McCracken who each had 6 tackles. DeMarco chipped in 3 assists, McCracken 7, Wrigley 1 assist, while also adding an interception.

“The best part about making a tackle is ruining the momentum of the other team, so when they are stopped, our team can come out with more momentum,” Demarco said.

In the first quarter, the Trojan defense kept the Indians scoreless and Garrett Lewis had a 55 yard run for the first touchdown of the night. Alex Drewes’ kick was good for the extra point, giving the Trojans a 7-0 lead. The second quarter was an uneventful quarter, as the score stayed at 7-0.

During the third quarter Troy ran the ball 17 yards for a touchdown, and Drewes kicked another extra point.  Troy followed that up with another touchdown run in the fourth. The Trojan runningback scampered 31 yards down field for his second touchdown of the game.  Drewes followed that up with another extra point making him a perfect 3-3 on the evening.  Chesterton returns to action for their final home game of the season this Friday here at CHS and Trojan Field.  The game will start at 7pm.
