The Chesterton High School Boys Varsity Basketball team is preparing to take on the 2021 season. The current practices have been designed to re-establish the physical shape of the athletes as well as re-familiarizing them with the court.

“Practices are hard. The intensity seems like it increases every year. Practice is intense, competitive, and electric. The intense part is really because we need to get back in shape though,” said senior Travis Grayson.

Official practices will begin next Monday, November 8th, with tryouts. The players selected for the team will continue practicing throughout the weeks to follow. The team will be playing in their annual Maroon and Gold game on November 13th. Those that are interested in supporting the team, feel free to make an appearance, as the entire program will be introduced, from 7th grade to seniors.

“I am ready to do the best I can to put these guys in a position of success,” head coach Marc Urban added.

The team is convinced that their capabilities this year are unmatched.  The variety of skilled athletes this season will bring the team to the next level.

“It’s a goal of mine to do everything I can to make our team better. Our practices consist of everything from conditioning to defense to competing, everything we need to do to get ready for the season. I am looking forward to winning state and competing with each and every person on the team. We have a great staff behind us with Coach Urban, Coach Ray, Coach Boetel, Coach White, Coach Wagner and Coach Mullen and we all could not be more excited to get going,” Junior Owen Guest concluded.

Overall, the 2021 Boys Basketball team is thrilled to begin their season. Coach Urban confirmed that he will have a finalized roaster with each athlete participating this season by next Tuesday. They are intrigued by the outcome of this season with every team they compete with.

“I’m excited to compete against everybody. Every school. Everybody!” Urban emphasized.
