On November 20th, a group of passionate citizens represented their political opinions through a peaceful protest outside of the old Lake County Courthouse in Crown Point Indiana.  The protest began at 11:30 A.M with three people chanting “It is my right to choose if I get vaccinated,” “I will not accept the vaccine,” and “You can take the shot but that doesn’t mean I have to,” in response to the Covid-19 vaccine mandates.

“I don’t need the vaccine. I am very healthy and I know way too many people that have gotten injured by it,” Lee, Crown Point citizen, mother, and grandmother expressed.

Later, the group started to multiply, and participants began to chant things like: “Unmasked, unvaxed, and unafraid,” “Stop the mandates,” and “Do not believe the mainstream media lies” in unison, utilizing the First Amendment.  Additionally, they carried signs that read “Don’t give us the axe for not taking the vax,” “Healthcare workers have rights too,” “No vaccines for kids,” and “What happened to MY body MY choice?” Not only did participants protest, but they expressed their patriotism by shouting “U.S.A, U.S.A, U.S.A!” and proudly carrying the American flag. Others drove past honking their horns in agreement with the chants, and patriotic music echoed through the town.

“I am here because I believe in my rights and they are being taken away from me in the worst kind of way. Biden and his attempt to get OCEA to mandate jobs for employees was him trying to circumvent the law. I have a right to have my representatives vote on the laws that I aim to be governed,” a protester who wished to remain unnamed explained.

Moreover, envelopes were offered which contained stickers that read “ For the first time in history we can transmit a disease we don’t have to people who are immunized against it!” and “ Imagine not wanting to catch a cold so bad you end up with blood clots.” These stickers were created by a global network titled The White Rose consisting of independent activists. Their variety of stickers, representing an opposition towards many controversial issues such as the COVID-19 vaccine, face masks, and the credibility of the current president of the United States, Joe Biden, are found posted publicly in the United States, England, Australia, Ireland, Canada, Portugal, and Italy.

The protest lasted two hours and concluded around 2:00 P.M. The crowd successfully advertised their opposition towards the current mandates and expressed their sympathy towards those whose careers are being determined by their compliance with the COVID-19 regulations.
