CHS Speech takes on Concord, Finishing 3rd

On Saturday, November 20th, the Chesterton High School Speech team woke up early to compete in Elkhart, Indiana at Concord High School.  After a successful home tournament, the team was ready to take on another.  In overall sweepstakes, the team took third place with 93 points, following Bishop Dwenger (151) who placed second, and Plymouth High School (235) who took first.  

Each member of the team had a successful day, with the majority of competitors placing in the top 6 of their events.

The team seemed happy with their results, but still will continue to work to make improvements in the future.

     “I feel very satisfied with my placings.  I had a cold and had been pretty sick all week, so the fact that I was able to get my first win in Oratory was super cool.  It really increased my confidence to do so well despite sickness and a 3:45 wake up time working against me,” shares Gigi Hanner. 

The Speech team will compete next on December 3rd and 4th for a National Circuit tournament at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
