This past Saturday, the Chesterton Boys Cross Country team raced past the competition at IHSAA Semi-State and punched their ticket to the State Finals! The Trojans finished with a total score of 91 and beat second-place Valparaiso by a 36-point margin. The Girls Cross Country team ended their season with a 12th-place performance at Semi-State.

Jackson Tuck and Evan O’Connor led the team placing fifth and sixth overall. Jackson finished with an astounding time of 16:25.8, and Evan finished closely behind with a time of 16:27.2. This wasn’t all that the Trojans had to offer, however. Josh Tuck finished 14th and was followed closely by Bobby Berger who placed 16th. Oliver Wilgocki also competed and placed 74th overall giving the Trojans 58 points. Tyler Herzog finished the race with a time of 17:57.6. He was able to cut 3 seconds off his time from regionals, while Ray Hundt was able to shave 49 seconds off of his time from the Culver Invite, and finished with a time of 18:09.4. These incredible performances gave Chesterton an average time of 16:53.1 which was almost 15 seconds faster than the rest of the competition!
