65th Annual Grammy Awards Rundown
Harry Styles Wins Album of the Year
February 13, 2023
This year’s annual Grammy Awards were packed with remarkable nominations because of the many albums and content that came out. With many big name stars competing against each other here is the rundown of the 2023 Annual Grammy awards:
The Record of the Year award was filled with many well known nominations from Harry Styles for “As It Was”, Adele for “Easy on Me”, Beyoncé for “BREAK MY SOUL”, Doja Cat for “Woman”, Mary J. Blige for “Good Morning Gorgeous”, ABBA for “Don’t Shut Me Down”, Steve Lacy for “Bad Habit”, Kendrick Lamar for “The Heart Part 5”, and Brandi Carlile for “You and Me on the Rock” which features Lucius. Overall, Lizzo ended up winning the award for her hit “About Damn Time”.
Harry Styles was nominated for a handful of awards but ended up taking home the Best Pop Vocal Album award as well as Album of the Year award for his album “Harry’s House”. When giving his acceptance speech for Album of the Year a random heckler decided to try and ruin the moment by telling him to get off stage. Despite the heckler, Styles still stayed strong and finished his speech ending the night off by winning two Grammy awards, which is an amazing accomplishment for Styles.
Beyoncé was another artist who had an incredible night. Despite not winning any of the main four categories, Beyoncé took home four Grammys. Those awards included: Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for her album Renaissance, Best Dance/Electronic Recording for her song “Break My Soul,” Best R&B Song for her song “CUFF IT,” and Best Traditional R&B Performance for her song “Plastic Off the Sofa.” Beyoncé currently has 32 Grammys from over the course of her career so this is nothing new for Queen B.
The two other of the big four awards are Song of the Year award and Best New Artist award. Bonnie Raitt, a blues singer and guitarist, won the Song of the Year award for her song “Just Like That.” Samara Joy is a jazz singer who was nominated and won the Best New Artist award. Joy released her first debut album in 2021 called Samara Joy and has since then released a second album titled Linger Awhile.
While the big main four are deemed the most important to many artists and viewers, here are some honorable mentions of artists who also worked extremely hard for their awards. Adele won Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Easy on Me”, Willie Nelson won Best Country Album for A Beautiful Time, while “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” from the hit Disney movie Encanto won Best Song Written for Visual Media. Taylor Swift, who won Best Music Video for her 10 minute music video called All To Well:The Short Film.
