Due to the construction of new schools, the Duneland School Corporation (DSC) Children Nutrition Services Department is making changes to the school lunches available. Many elementary and intermediate schools in the area will have lunches cut or changed starting after Labor Day weekend.
These schools will only be provided with one option for both breakfast and lunch. Some meals will even be served in alternative locations based on the school.
This is mostly affecting Yost and Liberty elementary schools and Liberty and Westchester intermediate schools. Construction will likely affect other schools within the area, and the implemented changes will continue until construction has finished.
“The construction projects at the schools are due to many of them being outdated. The upgrades will provide a productive learning environment that will help student achievement,” Principal Martinson said.
Due to this construction the introduction of the new menu app, Nutrislice, will be postponed until September 11th. This menu app will allow students and parents to find what meal options are provided for each day as well as find nutritional information.
Despite the construction, these schools will still provide an educational environment for all students. The construction will provide a new and updated school experience for all students.
