CHS is hosting a College and Career Fair to give students a feel for what they may want to pursue after high school. The college fair portion will be hosted in the CHS cafeteria during all lunch periods on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Register for a barcode before the fair at www.StriveFair.com. During the fair, the college representatives will scan the barcode you received to send you any additional information about their school. At the fair, there will be roughly 40 different colleges. The day following the fair, students will get a report back from the schools scanned with information about the colleges. This an excellent opportunity for students to learn about different colleges, meet representatives to ask questions and make decisions about what you’re looking for in a school. The career fair portion will be hosted on Thursday, October 5, 2023, in the CHS gymnasium during SRT. During this portion of the fair, students will be able to speak with representatives from many businesses in various work fields. Companies from all over the Porter County area will be setting up booths in the same style as the college portion of the fair, and attending students will have the opportunity to speak with the representatives and receive handouts and other information about said business. The career fair is also great for students who do not plan on attending college to figure out exactly what they would like to pursue after graduation. The college and career fair is recommended for, but not limited to, upperclassmen to figure out where they’d like to go in life.
“This can be especially important for juniors who are looking for internship opportunities for next year like work study. Seniors can find opportunities for a job right out of high school. And also, freshman and sophomores can find an idea of what they want to go into in the future” says the Career Center Assistant and fair coordinator, Ms. Pelletier.
