Books are an amazing way to exercise your mind and make new bonds with people over the books you read. With that being said, a book club is finally being installed in our very own library here at CHS. Created by Linnea Sundquist and hosted by one of our librarians, Ms. Wilt, the club will meet every Wednesday during SRT, 9:18 am- 10:54 am. The club will involve multiple activities such as making bookmarks, hot chocolate, and read day, as well as picking a book to read throughout the duration of a couple of weeks. The first callout meeting will be on Wednesday, November 15, make sure to collect a pass from the library in order to participate in the club!
Reading is a very important hobby students, as well as everybody, should indulge in. Not only does it improve you intellectually, but it can be used as an escape to go into a completely different world and learn about people, cultures, and other places of the world.
“I think it’s really important for us to do whatever we can to encourage reading for fun,” Emily Wilt, library media specialist, says. “There has been a lot of research showing that pleasure reading can improve people’s empathy, improve students’ achievement and their test scores, and we all need more opportunities for face-to-face interactions, which is why the book club is so great.”
If reading interests you in the slightest, be sure to get a pass and tag along for the callout meeting next week! It’s a great way to support your peers and meet new and interesting people.
