Ah, Christmas. Arguably the best time of the year. The beautiful lights, the cold outside paired with the cozy inside, blankets, and hot cocoa. Do you know what pairs well with hot cocoa? A great Christmas movie. Here’s a list of some of the best Christmas movies.
Home Alone:
Coming first on my list is the iconic Home Alone. Everyone loves this classic movie around the holiday season. This movie is filled with hilarious comedy, comedic injuries, and a very smart kid. If you didn’t already know, this movie follows 8-year-old Kevin as his family leaves him behind while they embark on a family vacation for the holidays. As Kevin is home alone, he must protect the McCallister home from two men who plan on robbing them. This classic film is a great family-friendly movie to watch during the winter months.
A Christmas Story:
Next up on the list is my personal favorite Christmas movie of all time, A Christmas Story. The plot follows young Ralphie, with his adult self as the narrator, as he longs for a toy rifle for Christmas. Everyone around him told him “You’ll shoot your eye out” but he still wished for the toy. Once he finally did receive the rifle, he managed to break his glasses and spent his Christmas hiding it with excuses. This film shows great characteristics of comedy, and fun for all ages. I highly recommend this movie for this Christmas season!
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Live Action):
Third on this list is the Jim Carrey version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This film is iconic, to say the least, a household movie for Christmases everywhere. The movie follows a green Grinch who decides to wreak havoc on the citizens of Whoville during their favorite holiday, Christmas. He planned to swipe all of the Whoville Christmas and store it on his isolated mountain, but his evil plans were ruined when he met the loveable Cindy Lou Who. This comedic and heartwarming movie is perfect for people of all ages to watch this season.
Polar Express:
Up next is the children’s classic Polar Express. This movie is a Christmas staple for children everywhere. The movie follows a young boy who is very doubtful about the existence of Santa Claus and embarks on a train journey to the North Pole. They face many trials throughout their train ride. In the end, Billy, the young boy, finds his appreciation for Santa, his elves, the North Pole, and all things Christmas. This is a perfect, family-friendly movie for all ages to enjoy!
The Santa Clause:
Last but not least is the amazing Christmas comedy The Santa Claus. This is one of the most comedic Christmas movies known to man. The film follows a father who has custody of his son on Christmas Eve. Scott, the father, then accidentally murders a man in a Santa suit which then transports them to the North Pole. Once he arrives, one of the elves explains to Scott that he now has to take on the responsibility of Santa this upcoming Christmas. Scott had his work cut out for him to say the least! This hilarious holiday film is perfect for the season.
As this list comes to an end, I highly recommend all these movies to readers. Stay warm, watch movies, and have a Merry Christmas!
