Chesterton police are looking for information regarding the theft of a binder full of valuable Magic the Gathering cards. According to Chesterton Police Department reports, the incident occurred at 6 pm at Reliquary Gaming on South Calumet road when two of the three people pictured above distracted an employee and the third one took the binder and stuffed it in his backpack. For those who don’t know, Magic the Gathering is a highly competitive card game played by roughly 35 million people, it uses cards that value between a few cents to tens of thousands of dollars based on their rareness and utility. The cards in the binder were valued at $10-20 a piece. Store employees only realized that the binder was missing long after the thieves had left
According to the Commander’s Herald, a tabletop gaming website, the same three individuals were seen in Savoy Illinois at Champaign Sports Cards, where they allegedly stole a “handful” Pokemon slabs and graded Baseball cards.
