This past weekend, one of the most-watched film awards shows took place. This would, of course, be The Oscars, also known as The Academy Awards. This awards show draws millions of viewers each year to see their favorite stars win awards for their hard work. These celebrities show up in their best attire wearing the names of some of the most iconic fashion designers. The day after the Oscars, all the criticism of the outfits from the night before flows in. One of my favorite parts about the Academy Awards is the fashion, so without further ado, here are some of my favorite looks from the show!
Cynthia Ervio
First on the list of my favorite outfits from the Oscars is Cynthia Erivo. Erivo was draped from head to toe in a gorgeous emerald green Louis Vuitton dress that flattered her in the best possible way. This ruffled green gown with a deep v-line is said to be a tribute to her upcoming role as Elphaba, aka the Wicked Witch of the West, in the new movie Wicked. She completed the look with long green nails and a selection of emerald green jewelry and looked absolutely stunning on the red carpet.
Cillian Murphy
Murphy showed up dressed to impress when he arrived wearing a custom Versace suit. This suit was inspired by vintage Versace looks from the 90s and the Oppenheimer star sported a classy, sophisticated look on the carpet. He completed his look with patent leather boots and an 18-karat gold brooch. Murphy’s Oscars attire stood out to me amongst many other looks from that night.
Zendaya
Next on the list of looks that caught my attention was Zendaya’s. Zendaya, an actress who always shows up in the dreamiest looks, owned the red carpet in her stunning silvery-black and rose-colored gown. Giorgio Armani Privé dressed the Dune actress and she flowed down the carpet effortlessly. Zendaya finished her outfit with pink diamond earrings from Bulgari and her hair in soft waves.
Ryan Gosling
Gosling has stolen our hearts again this year with his role in Barbie as Ken and I was incredibly excited to see his red carpet look. The Barbie actor rocked the red carpet in a custom black Gucci suit with a sleek black undershirt worn unbuttoned at the top, a classic Gosling style. The perfectly tailored suit was lined with shiny beaded trim and stood out amongst the simpler black suits usually seen on the carpet. Gosling completed his look with a subtle necklace and an impressive pink diamond-embezzled watch, a clear nod to his role in Barbie.
Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld took over the red carpet with her outfit modeling a stunning shade of blue. Steinfeld came dressed in a pastel blue Ellie Saab gown that had her looking like a goddess. The ethereal gown with long flowy sleeves resembling butterfly wings and a sweetheart neckline perfectly complimented the Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse actress. She wore her hair up in a sleek, tight bun, allowing viewers to admire every inch of her dress, including the gold bodice and dramatic, floor-length scarf. She kept her jewelry to a minimum with dazzling earrings and a simple ring. Without a doubt, Steinfeld had viewers from all over the world completely in awe of her dress.
Taylor Zakhar Perez
Zakhar Perez is another actor who turned heads wearing colorful attire this past weekend. Taylor’s bright blue Prada suit with a black tie and undershirt did not disappoint and was a refreshing twist to the traditional men’s attire at awards shows. The Red, White, and Royal Blue star topped off the classy look with a simple watch and sleek black shoes.
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
Many red-carpet couples walked this past weekend, but two stood out to me the most. Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, in particular, stole the show. Blunt, dressed in a gorgeous Schiaparelli gown with jewels and meticulous beading that shimmered with each move she made, was the talk of the night with this slightly controversial dress. The dress with the illusion of floating sleeves that lifted off Blunt’s shoulders received much criticism from fashion fans. At first glance, fans were under the impression that the Oppenheimer actress was wearing an ill-fitting dress. Blunt’s stylist, Jessica Pester, later spoke on the odd dress and the anticipated shock value from viewers.
“Did I know people were going to talk about the shoulder? Absolutely. Do I care what anybody else has to say? Absolutely not… At the end of the day, she looked absolutely beautiful. It was such a beautiful dress,” she told Vanity Fair.
Blunt showed up on the carpet with her husband and he looked just as iconic as she did. Krasinski came wearing an all-white tuxedo with patent leather boots that complemented his wife’s dress perfectly. The couple accessorized their looks with jewels courtesy of Tiffany and Co.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade by far were the best-looking couple to walk the red carpet on Sunday. The iconic couple looked absolutely breathtaking together and their outfits complemented each other beautifully. Union looked elegant in her strapless Carolina Herrera gown covered in diamonds. The dress included a column skirt wrapped around Union’s waist and she exuded classiness and poise. Union took a simpler direction to accessorize her gown with a stunning necklace made from the diamonds of none other than Tiffany and Co. Wade, nominated that night for his work as a producer on The Barber of Little Rock, joined his wife in a simple, classy approach to red carpet attire. He was dressed head to toe in a custom Versace suit with a white jacket, a black tie, and black slacks. The power couple dominated the red carpet in their stylish outfits and were my favorite looks of the night.
Many stars came beautifully dressed on the red carpet, but these ten stars in particular knocked it out of the park for me.
