After much debate over the years, the prom committee has finally landed on a prom theme for May 4 from 5 to 10 p.m. This year’s prom theme will be Happily Ever After, with dreamy and romantic decor adorning Duneland Falls in Burns Harbor. Dinner, drinks, and dessert will be provided. Before prom begins, the Grand March will take place at Chesterton High School.
“We were researching different ideas for what we should do for the theme, and we were trying to think of something a lot of people would like and be more inclusive to everybody. Some people say Star Wars, but some people don’t like that. So we were trying to find something that everyone could relate to and we thought that Happily Ever After was something that everyone, either as a child or now can think about and relate with,” sophomore Prom Committee Member Mara Huneryager said.
This year, ticket sales will not take place in person like in the past, but online to make ticket selection and purchasing run smoother and easier. Online tickets will be available for sale beginning April 3 until April 30 or when they all sell out, with no exception. All tickets cost $45 and additional fees, and once a student has purchased a ticket, they will not be able to refund or resell their ticket.
To purchase a ticket, students must go to the CHS 23-24 Canvas page, their graduating year, and then navigate to the designated module containing the QR code to purchase prom tickets. When a student goes to purchase those tickets, they will be required to reserve their seat at a table. Due to this, it is advised that students have their prom tables sorted out and purchase tickets together to minimize confusion.
Nominations for the Prom Royalty Court will begin on April 24 and end on the 26, while voting for the Prom Court will happen from May 1 to the 3.
