As the last month of the 2023-2024 school year commences, there will be several events to celebrate the seniors, as they say their goodbyes to CHS. All events are optional, except for graduation, but all will be a great experience for seniors before they take off into the world!
Friday – May 3, 2024 “Decision Day”
During lunches on Friday, May 3, CHS will be hosting its annual decision day! All seniors will receive free ice cream and treats as they celebrate their pathway after graduation. No matter if it’s college, the military, or jobs, it will be a great day to celebrate wherever the seniors decide to go after high school! It’s encouraged to wear any college merchandise/spirit wear to this, as photos will be taken as well!
Saturday – May 4, 2024 “Prom”
The prom will be held on Saturday, May 4, at Duneland Falls. This year’s theme is “Happily Ever After.” Tickets must have been purchased beforehand, and outside guests must have their approval form completed. Doors will open at 5 pm and close PROMPTLY at 6. The dance will last until 10 pm! Attendees will be breathalyzed at the door.
Monday – May 13, 2024 “Senior Awards Night”
The senior awards ceremony will be held Monday, May 13, in the CHS auditorium at 6 pm. It is by invitation only, as it will celebrate those with academic achievements and military plans. Scholarships will also be awarded as well. Seniors invited should dress up and wear their cap and gown to the event. Those who cannot attend should notify the counseling office to avoid any mixups at the ceremony.
Friday – May 17, 2024 “Senior Sunrise”
On Friday, May 17, the senior sunrise will be held at the Chesterton High School football field. Seniors should arrive at 5:30 am. It is scheduled to last until 6:45 am, but seniors can leave at any time. Later that day, seniors will also celebrate their decisions for after high school, so it is encouraged to wear your college/spirit wear! This will be a fun event for seniors to get together and commemorate the last month of high school!
Sunday – May 19, 2024 “Senior Banquet”
The annual senior banquet will take place on Sunday, May 19, from 12 pm – 2 pm at the CHS courtyard. Food will be provided in picnic style, with senior superlative winners announced. “We’re super excited to get the senior class together once again before graduation to celebrate the things we have grown to know and love about each other by awarding senior superlatives,” said Senior Class Liaison Megan Wilcox.
Wednesday – June 5, 2024 “Graduation”
Graduation is on Wednesday, June 5, at the CHS football field. Seniors should arrive by 5:30 pm at door 31. The ceremony will take place at 7:00 pm. All seniors have been given eight tickets for their families to arrive before 7 pm. Nonticket holders will be allowed in after those with tickets, which will be after 7 pm. It is the final goodbye to the class of 2024!
