In 2017, Nintendo released its most recent game console, the Nintendo Switch, and it was an instant success. Selling over 13 million units in just the first year, it’s no wonder Nintendo has decided to build on this success with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. Although no official name has been revealed to the public, people have started calling it ‘Switch 2’ because of its similarities to its predecessor.

 Nintendo’s new consoles are often drastically different from one another. For example, the Nintendo 64 has a stark contrast to its successor, the Game Cube. However, the Nintendo Switch 2 will likely have a similar model to the original. 

Not much has been revealed about the new Switch, but Nintendo has given fans some sneak peeks. One recent big announcement was the confirmation of backward compatibility. This means that people can play any game from the original Nintendo Switch on the second one. It has also been confirmed that Nintendo Switch Online will be a feature on the new console. Players on the original Nintendo Switch will likely be able to play with people on the newer one.

The Nintendo Switch currently has a price tag of around 250-300 dollars, an average price for a Nintendo console. The original Switch had a starting price of around 300 dollars. The new Switch is estimated to cost between 350 and 400 dollars, which places it slightly higher than the original Switch in terms of price. 

Roughly every 5 years Nintendo comes out with a new game system. It has been announced that its release will be sometime in early 2025. Fans have been anticipating this new console for a while now. If it is anything like its predecessor, it will not disappoint.
