On Saturday February 22, Chesterton High School gymnast Sammie Boster vaulted to the top of the DAC individual standings, winning the All Around Conference championship at Crown Point High School. Along with Boster’s success, Chesterton’s team also set a new overall best score for the season of 97.725!
“Everyone was really happy with how they did. It was really fun. I still want to clean up my routines and improve a little in each event. Everyone was really happy with how they did. It was really fun,” Boster said.
Boster’s scores and placements are as follows:
Beam: First Place, 9.75 points
Floor: First Place, 9.575 points
Vault: Second Place, 9.575 points
Bars: Fourth, 9.325 points
With sectionals this Saturday and Regionals to come in the upcoming weekends, it is reassuring to know that the Trojans are peaking at the right time. There is a little time for Boster and crew to make preparations for higher competition, and hopefully they can set new season bests.
“I’m definitely going to focus on bars, because there are some girls from Valpo that have some really good bar routines, so I definitely want to catch up with that to improve my overall score for when I see higher competition,” Boster remarked.
