Crank up those radios, friends, and tune them to 88.3 FM! Chesterton High School’s radio station, WDSO, is the rock of Chesterton, and it’s time for their 34th annual Radiothon! Radiothon is WDSO’s annual April event of all-day student DJing and fundraising.
Listen to CHS’s best up-and-coming DJs as they play some tunes, have some fun, and give away amazing prizes from an amazing array of businesses, such as Lemon Tree, Third Coast, Yesterday’s Treasures, Tethan’s, even concert tickets, and much, much more.
Radiothon will start off on this Friday, April 16, from 3 pm to 10 pm with WDSO’s entire staff. On this day, all WDSO members, staff, alumni, and fans are encouraged to wear their WDSO swag, which can be purchased by messaging WDSO’s station manager at [email protected]. This email can also be used by businesses looking to sponsor this event or WDSO alumni of the past who wish to come in during Radiothon and have a great time. T-shirts are available for $25, and sweatshirts are available for $35, which can be paid with debit, credit, cash, or a check mailed in made out to WDSO. Also, ask about WDSO stickers and pins. Any WDSO merch must be picked up at Chesterton High School during school hours from 8 am to 3 pm. WDSO t-shirts can also be purchased via a $25 or above donation during radiothon week. Simply call the station at 219-983-3777 and let the DJ lead you from there. During Radiothon, WDSO also offers callers the option of a special edition retro logo t-shirt designed in the 80s by Deano Recktenwall. 219-983-3777 is also the number to call to make a donation of any amount, request a song, or talk to your favorite DJ.
The following week, April 21 through 25, Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3 pm, will consist of a different collection of WDSO DJs every single day. Each day, the students will try to raise the most money to fund the station for next year and to update the outdated mixing board in the station. This year, there will be the best songs, interesting radio personalities, and tons of great prizes provided by WDSO’s wonderful sponsors.
Outside of Radiothon, WDSO reports on local news, CHS sports, and offers multiple radio shows, such as the Porter County Perspective, which features organizations all over Porter County with a good cause. However, during Radiothon hours, these programs will not air.
WDSO is looking forward to connecting with listeners by raising spirits and funds during Radiothon!
