The Wizard of Oz festival is back in Chesterton after being cancelled last year due to COVID restrictions. The event this year will take place at the Duneland Falls Banquet Center on May 15th and 16th. The activities for this year are live and virtual, as well as indoor and outdoor.

The origin of the festival began when the former owner of the Yellow Brick Road gift shop, Jean Nelson, began the Wizard of Oz fest in 1981.Over the years, the surviving Munchkins and the great-grandson of L. Frank Baum, who wrote “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz”, came to the festival to participate in the activities.
