CHS Spell Bowl Seeks New Members

Carl Harding

Chesterton High School’s Spell Bowl team is returning once again this year. Spell Bowl is a great opportunity to enhance one’s vocabulary.  This can be applied when writing college essays, organizing a resume, and improving your overall writing and communication skills. Spell Bowl allows you to improve your social skills by working closely with teammates. Another plus the program provides is a more appealing college application due to the presence of an academic competition.   Overall, the program consists of a variety of individuals who practice and study new words. Mrs. Jennifer Jendrzejczyk is the sole representative of Spell Bowl and applies the effort needed for the group to succeed. She will ensure that each student is prepared for competing.

“It is a competition event, we get together and practice spelling and studying words. We have over 3,000 words we study and spell from, it is a 10 person team and we are still seeking members and it’s for a fun time where you don’t have to take it seriously” said team sponsor, Mrs Jennifer Jendrzejczyk.

The Spell Bowl does not require commitment after school with the exception of competitions. The first competition will take place September 27, 2021 and will be hosted through a virtual meeting.  It is likely there will be 3-4 more competitions in October and early November. There is no fee to participate. If you’re looking to have a fun time and looking to learn new words join the Spell Bowl today! Anyone interested in joining contact Mrs. Jendrzejczyk for any information. Her room is located in the downstairs English A (122) hallway and she is open to answering any questions.
