The Final Fight for CHS Football Seniors

A Tough Loss for the Chesterton Trojans

Caroline Dardeau, Editor in Sports

On November 5, 2021, the Chesterton Trojans Football finished out their season with a tough loss against the Penn Kingsmen. The seniors fought for a win to continue their postseason play, but sadly the Kingsmen fought harder. The first quarter ended scoreless, both teams trying to score, but to no avail. The Kingsmen came out with fire in the second quarter, converting a 94 yard screen pass to the endzone. Running back Alec Hardrict received a pass from quarterback Ryne Buckley, broke a couple tackles, and took it to the barn. The score happened with 6:23 in the half, giving the Trojans plenty of time to recover, however, before the first half ended, only the Kingsmen scored. Braden Primrose drilled a 19 yard field goal that would prove to be the difference in the game. The halftime score was 10-0 in favor of Penn.

After halftime, the defenses shined again, producing another scoreless quarter. At the start of the fourth quarter the Trojans scored a touchdown via a Chris Mullen one yard run. Alex Drewes finished off with the extra point kick making the score 10-7. Mullen led in passing yards and rushing yards with 183 passing yards and 72 rushing yards. Tyler Peterson led in receiving yards with 59 yards in total. The Trojans outgained Penn in total yards by almost 100 yards, but it was for naught, as the Kingsmen closed out the game.  The Trojans had 281 yards and the Kingsmen had 184 yards. On the defensive point of view, the top three led in their final game of their high school career. Gage DeMarco led with 10 tackles and 4 assists, Jordan Hughes had 7 tackles and 1 assist, our third leader Dane Snemis had 5 tackles and 4 assists.

The Sandscript is so incredibly proud of the Trojans Football Team for their outstanding season. We are prepared to support once again next season, however in the meantime, we will be reporting on all winter and spring sports.
