Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is an emotional and action packed movie with intense fighting scenes focused on a new path for Black Panther. The story wasn’t just focused on loss, but what comes after. It built, what I hope, to be a new beginning for the continuation of a great series. The movie starts off with Shuri trying to help her sick brother, but  she cannot beat death. As tradition dictates, the nation of Wakanda celebrates his life. While still in mourning, an unexpected visitor arrives requesting the aide of Wakanda. With the addition of the turmoil growing between the nations and Wakanda, it leads to unforeseen challenges for Princess Shuri, T’Challa’s sister.

As most fans know, Chadwick Boseman died two years ago on August 28th. The acting industry, and particularly the Marvel community, was hit hard by his death. With the new movie being filmed after his death a lot of fans were questioning how it would be handled. There were a lot of tributes throughout the film in honor of Chadwick Boseman. In the title screen, when the Marvel title appears, normally all Marvel’s heroes would be featured only this time it was solely scenes of Black Panther. The Marvel lettering was in black and purple, the colors of Black Panther. Chadwick also appears in flashbacks. The respect and honor given to each tribute was done tastefully, beautifully, and were a testament to the impact he made within the Marvel Universe and for Marvel fans alike.

Personally, Wakanda Forever was one of my favorite Marvel movies this year. I loved how they honored Boseman’s legacy by putting him in the film without making him CGI. I wish we had a little more character development for Okeye, as she was a major part of this movie, but perhaps her turn will be next. Also having an  amazing strong woman as a superhero is incredible. It also shows children and adults that women—all women of any background, of any culture, or race—are capable of doing incredible things.

I highly recommend this movie, especially Marvel fans. As a marvel fan this will be one I watch over and over again.
