The legendary release of a long awaited video game has occurred. On November 9th, 2022, the newest addition to the God Of War series, God Of War Ragnarok, was released to the Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 gaming consoles. This long running series explores the adventures of Kratos, the God-Killer, and his son, Atreus.

Kratos is known by fans as the being that slayed Hades, God of the Dead, Helios, God of the Sun, Poseidon, God of the Sea, and many more. His hit list is near endless, eventually turning him into the new God of War, replacing Tyr who was the previous God of War

In God Of War Ragnarok, both Kratos and Atreus are years older, and traveling from place to place, seeking answers about Atreus’ true identity. The game also introduces Thor, the God Of Thunder, as well as Odin, the Allfather. After countless battles with familiar and unfamiliar foes, Kratos finds himself avoiding war with the gods as he sees himself past that. However, when Thor comes to his house and battles with him, we see a glimpse of Kratos in his most dangerous form, a side of him that has not been seen for a while.

In terms of gameplay specifics, a lot has changed since the previous game. For one, a lot of in-game mechanics have been added. The player can now upgrade and improve various sets of battle gear, level up a skill tree, and learn a bunch of new moves. Also, the player will control both Kratos AND his son Atreus throughout the game. Difficulty has also changed, as the player can now select a new challenge level called God Of War difficulty. This makes the game extremely difficult, and provides a challenge even for the most elite gamers. In addition to the mechanic changes to God Of War Ragnarok, there have been music changes as well. The iconic woodwind melody that has been heard for years is only heard a few times throughout the game, usually when we see Kratos in his most menacing form. The normal music that is heard most is a nice flowing orchestra piece.

In terms of ratings, Google Polls indicate that 97 percent of players love God Of War Ragnarok so far. The game also received a 10/10 rating from IGN just 3 days after its release. As of November 16th, a booming 23 million copies of God Of War Ragnarok were sold only a week after its release. Fans and players simply cannot wait for what comes next in the game, and will certainly adore it more and more as time goes on.
