Seven CHS Senior Football players named Football Academic All-State

Congratulations Football Academic All-State Recipients

Abi Carper, Sandscript Writer

Seven CHS Senior Football players have been named Football  Academic All-State based on their other academic achievements. Their names are Levi Wheeling, Isaiah Fowler, Bryce Thoma, Tyler Peterson, Ethan Troy, James Rader, and Jonathan Flemiing. To earn Academic All-State student-athletes must display capability of performing tasks in and outside of the classroom, maintaining a steady GPA of 3.40, and be a senior. The players felt pride in receiving the honor

“You know, it always feels good. I try really hard both in school and in my sport so it’s always a good accomplishment to make,” Thoma told the Sandscript.

For others, the achievement was a testament to their hard work and dedication in the classroom over the last few years.

“It’s a good feeling… My sophomore and junior year I really struggled with academics. By really struggle , I mean B’s and C’s. Yeah, I feel like I deserve it. Yeah, I mean I just had to stay consistent in comparison to some of the team. We had the highest GPA of football in a while and contributing to that was nice as well,” Wheeling explained.

Achieving Football Academic All State is not an easy feat. All of the hard work each of the seven players have put forth over the past four years paid off. Congratulations to them and all of their success.

“I think it’s an honor. It was really nice. I work really hard. You know, being an athlete you’re always called to perform well on the field, but you’re also asked to perform in the classroom, and I feel like being able to be honored for my academics was really nice,” Fowler concluded.
