Chesterton Baseball Sectional Announced

Chesterton to host baseball postseason tourney

Brody Mehling, Editor of Sports

The Chesterton boys baseball team is approaching their postseason, and their sectional draw has just been announced. The Trojans have a bye for the first round and in game 2 of the second round, they will face off against rival Valparaiso. The Trojans are underdogs going into the game with an 0-2 record against the Vikings this season, but that won’t stop them from giving it their all. The matchup should be a tight battle as both of their previous meetings have been relatively close.

As for the rest of the sectional, in game one of the first round, the Bulldogs of Crown Point will play the Indians of Portage. Crown Point is definitely the favorite for this game sporting a 7-3 record in conference play as well as 2 wins over Portage. In game 2 of the first round, the Kankakee Valley Kougars will face off against the Lowell Red Devils. The game should be pretty even with no clear favorite. Both teams are 1-1 against each other so it should be a hard-fought game.

The winners of Crown Point and Portage will play the victor of Lowell and KV for game 1 of the second round. The winner of that second-round game will play the winner of Chesterton/Valpo in the championship.

Make sure to wish the players luck in their postseason games… Onward Trojans! For more information such as dates and times for the games, follow this link.
