Recently the Duneland Athletic Conference has voted on their top players! The All DAC team was released and both the boy’s and girl’s teams were well represented. The team is chosen based on play during conference games each season. Then the DAC coaches vote on the best players through the course of the season, to determine who is the best of the best. Any player is eligible for this no matter what grade level.
This season the boys team had a down year by their standards. They finished with a record of 9-8. In a close battle a few weeks ago, they lost to Penn High School in their Sectional opener. Despite the tough season, quite a few boys were recognized for the all DAC team. These players were: senior midfielder John Kovalan, senior defender Sebastian Kogl, senior defender Mason Bernal, senior midfielder Ben Powell, and junior midfielder Michael Shumate.
On the girls side, their season was more successful but finished with similar results. The girls were 13-5 on the season, while playing their way to the Sectional semifinals. Their season would end there, a crushing 1-0 defeat, with the Crown Point goal coming in the last 30 seconds. Lady Trojans making the All DAC team were: sophomore forward Addy Avey, senior midfielder Olivia Virgil, senior midfielder Ella Keane, and junior goalie Kate Wantuch. Despite difficult ends to the season for both teams, this is an excellent individual achievement for these Trojans. Congratulations to our new All conference players!
