Chesterton senior Brayden Barrett has committed to playing baseball for Purdue University Northwest where he will be playing for legendary coach, Dave Griffin. Barrett has been playing baseball for Chesterton High School for four years. Barrett also played for the travel baseball team Five Star Great Lakes Chiefs. Barett has been working extremely hard and has goals for his future playing baseball at PMW.
“I hope to train hard and improve my game, I am going to do everything I can do to prepare for freshman year of college,” Barrett said.
Barrett has been a standout player during his four years of playing. He is a very skillful player and has been presented with multiple awards during his baseball career. Barrett accepted the Mental Attitude award in 2022, and in 2023 he was named Chesterton’s MVP. He also earned an all-Duneland Athletic Conference award, the lowest team ERA award, and the Kurt E. Ruoff Memorial Award in 2023. Barrett has had an incredible impact on his team. He has been extremely dedicated to his baseball career.
“My baseball career experience was amazing, going around the country, I had the opportunity to play with great teammates and amazing coaches, I worked hard, all of this led to the college coaches seeing me,” Barrett explained.
Chesterton High School congratulates Brayden Barrett and wishes him the best of luck in his future baseball career.
“I hope to continue to be a good player, I want to stay consistent at all the levels and hopefully one day go bigger than PMW,” Barrett states.
