The Christmas season is approaching fast, or has it already arrived? When does the celebration begin? For many, it starts right after Halloween on November 1.
Even though Thanksgiving falls between Halloween and Christmas, there is not much celebration for it beforehand. For one, Thanksgiving does not have the religious backstory that Christmas does. Additionally, there are not any songs for Thanksgiving, and people do not talk about it much, except for getting off school or work. You rarely see any decorations specifically for Thanksgiving, as most are really fall season decorations.
On the other hand, for Christmas, there is lots that is done beforehand. There are millions of songs, shows, and movies all for the Christmas season. Many characters have been created and return every holiday season, such as Frosty the Snowman or Rudolph, each of whom have become synonymous with Christmas. Decorations flood the stores and streets, as well as homes. People get excited about it approaching fast and talk about all their plans for the season and the day itself. These plans could include decorating the Christmas tree and setting up other decorations. There are also baking Christmas desserts, including decorating cookies. Shopping to find gifts for friends and family, and then later wrap them to give away. There’s parties and celebrations before and after for family members who may live far away. People get more excited about Christmas, so why not just start the celebration as soon as possible?
However, those are not the only reasons. The Christmas season always brings hope and joy that is not seen the rest of the year. There’s excitement in the air about seeing friends and family that you rarely see. The joy of shopping for others, and the anticipation about giving them the perfect gift.
And to find the perfect gift, you have to start earlier. If you wait until Thanksgiving, that gives you less than a month. Businesses realize this by airing their Christmas commercials starting in October. They put out deals early, which begins the season. All this means that the Christmas season is here and ready to be celebrated.
