The time has come for Chesterton’s five year old citizens to begin their education. Duneland School Corporation has finally announced the details of its annual Kindergarten Round-Up, which will be held on February 27, 2025 in the Chesterton High School auditorium from 4-7 p.m. Whether or not you bring your child with you to sit in a crowded, dark room for three hours is up to you. This meeting will be spent explaining the school system to the parents of this year’s incoming kindergarten students, with the intention of answering any questions and squashing any concerns one might have.
Before attending the meeting, make sure to enroll your student in their respective Duneland elementary school, which correlates to the family’s home address and can be found following this link. Also make sure to create a Skyward account with accurate personal information. Skyward will prompt you to upload several documents including a copy of your child’s birth certificate, a copy of their current immunization record, proof of residency, and any other necessary and applicable pieces of information. Enrollment has begun, but registration will not open until April 15, 2025. Once registered, frequently check the Duneland School Corporation website for announcements regarding your child’s future school, including opportunities for families to visit the school before the semester begins in August.
If you are in possession of an incoming Chesterton kindergarten student, but will be unable to attend the meeting on February 27, be sure to contact the school you intend to enroll them in to schedule a time to visit the school and obtain the knowledge of what was said in the meeting.
