Duneland School Corporation has announced the district-wide adoption of ParentSquare, a communication platform that combines the aspects of apps like Remind, Canvas, and Skyward into one place for parents and guardians to reference. ParentSquare aims to smooth out the wrinkles in parent-teacher communication and parents’ engagement with their child’s education. Unlike the other communication platforms already employed by DSC, ParentSquare is one unified medium that provides information about all school activities, events, and announcements, as well as the specific courses one may take. The platform provides direct communication from educators to parents in the least complicated way possible. Additionally, attendance records, grades, photos posted by teachers, forms and permission slips, and group messaging with automatic language translation will be provided by ParentSquare in ways that have never been made so easy.
By June of 2025, DSC will launch ParentSquare as its new communication platform, the benefits of which will greatly improve school-to-home communication for the 2025-2026 school year. Over the next few months, parents and guardians will be invited to create and verify their new accounts before ParentSquare is introduced. Duneland will not only reap the advertised benefits of this new platform, but also reduce its paper consumption as ParentSquare will send out the letters of information formerly sent physically. The decision to implement ParentSquare into the supply list was made carefully by DSC while considering not only confused parents, but also student’s privacy and desired improvements for the district. Overall, ParentSquare will improve all aspects of communication for the Duneland School Corporation.
