Chesterton’s mock trial team wrapped up the month of February with a 2nd place win at the regional level. The team defeated Valparaiso High School in Round 2 on the plaintiff side while dominating against Westside Leadership Academy in Round 3 on the defensive. For Round 1, Chesterton got lucky and received a bye, or an automatic win, due to the random sorting of teams.

Returning member and junior Katie Pampalone was awarded best witness in Round 3 for her role as Morgan DeLuca. DeLuca is a college influencer who is also well known for her wild personality and party skills.

“I had a lot of fun playing such an eccentric character while also helping my team win. I’m really looking forward to ‘slaying’ as Morgan again at state,” said Pampalone.

Senior Milena Veltri, another returning member, was given the award of best attorney for Round 2. Veltri also received this role last year for her outstanding performance in court.

“To be honest, we were worried about not being able to compete at regionals. Unfortunately, we lost certain team members due to scheduling conflicts, but luckily, we managed to work together and have a great performance. I celebrated our victory with a Chili’s 2 for 25 meal,” Veltri adds,

Chesterton clearly has a fantastic mock trial team this year and is ready to take on bigger and better competition at state in late March!
