This week, from February 3-7, 2025 all schools in the Duneland district will participate in National School Counseling Week. This week-long celebration gives thanks to the district’s hard-working school counselors. They do everything from helping students with their home lives or emotional situations to getting them prepared to start life after graduation. This week of gratitude is being sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
Each school in the Duneland district is lucky to have at least one counselor to make a difference in the lives of students. Jackson Elementary’s wonderful counselor is Michelle Bruss. Yost Elementary is lucky to have Susan Harmison. Liberty Middle School has the amazing Laura Herrod. Maureen Hurst is the exceptional counselor at Westchester Intermediate School. The superstar counselor at Bailly Elementary is Heather Kellogg. At Brummitt Elementary there is the fantastic Linsay Moskalick. Darcy Lamb puts in her hard work at Westchester Middle School. At Liberty Elementary Linsey Stainko does an incredible job. These counselors all work so hard to support the youth of the community. Make sure that you show your gratitude for them!
Chesterton High School is grateful to have so many amazing counselors. Amy Snyder, Julie Roytan, James Moore, Johanna Hess, Tuzdae Bartow, and Gretchen Arthur all work together to help out the students on a daily basis and make CHS a better place. This team has also worked together to complete Carrying the Torch to Student Success, Indiana’s Comprehensive School Counseling Initiative, at a Gold Star level.
The other counselors are also working towards completing this impressive feat. So remember their hard work when you see your, or your student’s school counselor and give them a “thank you”!
