Do you need a job? If you do, here’s the place for you.
As someone in high school, sometimes it’s hard to find a job that you can work at that is close in distance and has minimal requirements. From StandOut CV, “12.4 million Americans are searching for a job every month.” That can be intimidating and scary, but you are not alone. Jobs can benefit you in several ways and can even affect your future. Jobs teach you real-world experience, responsibility, teamwork, flexibility, and even future career skills. Colleges and universities are drawn toward this because they then know that you have had job employment and experience with “life outside of school.” On top of that, you earn money! But first, here are some things you might want to know before you get a job.
Sometimes, it can be a chore to find a fitting job. Lots of times, your age or the distance to a place can cause restrictions. Here are some things to know that can help open more job opportunities, especially if you are under the age of 16. First of all, when you are 14-15, and you are able to find a job, you have to have the consent of your parents to do the job. Once you are 16, however, you do not need permission from your parents. Until you are 18, you are under the protection of Youth Employment Laws that keep you safe and not overworked. In some cases, getting a work permit if you are younger than 16 can help you have a better chance at getting a job. Try to find a job that can lead you to gather up references, recommendations, and experience. You can also find a job that could help you gain real-world encounters that link to your future career, whether it’s super specific or just has to do with customer service.
