As we near the end of the third quarter, it’s time to be prepared for the fourth quarter and start thinking about life beyond high school. Consider this your friendly reminder before we enter the crazed state of the final months of high school, to set some time aside and complete these tasks. It’s a short list, for the moment, and shouldn’t take too long.

- Check Outside The Main Office To See If Your Name is Spelled Right
Outside of the main office, there is a list of all mid-year, junior, and senior grad names posted. It should list your name properly spelled. If there is a discrepancy with the sheet and how your name is spelled, go to the counseling office and tell them ASAP. The sooner they know, the sooner it can be corrected.
- Cap and Gown Pickup Is On March 13th During Lunches
On March 13th, during lunch time, head to the front of the cafeteria closest to the counseling offices and pick up your cap and gown that you ordered. If there is a problem with sizes or other questions, you will also be able to speak to a representative that day.
- Complete Bucket 2
A requirement to graduate in the State of Indiana is completing Bucket 2. Most of us have done this already, but for those of us who don’t, see your counselor ASAP. Bucket 2 requires that you either participate in a club, sport, or activity, which could be, for instance, a job, volunteer hours, Scouts, or other ways that you have participated in and out of high school. All you need to get is a paper from the counselors to fill out what you have done. If you have more questions or aren’t sure if you have completed this, please reach out to your counselor.
- Apply for Scholarships
Right now is a great time to apply for scholarships. As a reminder, the counseling office has tons of scholarships available on the school website, linked here, and in the physical office, they have paper copies of all scholarships as well.
- Decision Day is May 1st
Approaching quickly is Decision Day, which will be held on May 1st this year. Not much has been released on this event yet, but it’s a day set aside for seniors to share what their plans after high school are. Whether that is college, the military, trades, or a gap year, it’s all celebrated.
- One Final Senior Meeting In April; Date TBA
Somehow, time has flown faster this year, and we’re at the final senior meeting. The date hasn’t been announced yet, but more information will be provided soon! Make sure to listen to the announcements and check your email.
- Senior Yearbook Quotes and Superlatives
Arguably, one of the most important advisory dates is making your senior yearbook quote. It’s the time to really leave your last mark forever in the yearbook and at Chesterton. This will take place during advisory on April 21.
As a final reminder, we have approximately 50 days left of school. For the seniors, that’s 50 more days before graduation. This is an extremely important time to stay on top of deadlines and turn in what is required, as well as coming to school. If you have any questions or concerns about graduation plans or requirements, reach out to your counselor or Mrs. Lazart in the main office. Let’s make these the best 50 days before graduation that we can!
