As the fall season begins, students at CHS are looking forward to Halloween and the cozy days that will follow. Donovan Iler, a tenth grader who has many unique hobbies, participated in our fall-themed interview. He explained how likes to draw, play sports, and has many creative hobbies. In addition to being a person with many interests, we asked him which superhero he would trade places with. He said that out of all the options, Superman is “honestly super cool” and a very awesome choice.
During the interview, we asked Donovan what color would best describe his personality and he said that purple is the best option. If he were to throw away any book in history, it would be Coraline by Neil Gaiman. Donovan does not appreciate the theories people make about the story and thinks that the whole thing is “stupid.”
Donovan creatively answered the prompt “If you could make one invention, what would it be?” by explaining his idea of a mega-dome blaster that fires any object imaginable. He would most likely plan this invention out with a mechanical pencil, since he believes that they are more convenient than pens.
Since October is generally about Halloween, Donovan has trick-or-treating on his mind. In fact, he plans on dressing up as Booster Gold, an unpopular superhero.
On a breezy October afternoon, movies are always a great way to spend time. Donovan prefers to watch cute Halloween movies instead of the majorly scary ones when he has the chance. His favorite fall-themed movie is The Halloween Tree. To wrap up this topic, he argues that The Nightmare Before Christmas is both a Christmas and a Halloween film. Overall, Donovan had many interesting answers, and it was a pleasure to interview him.
