Two weeks ago, my buddies and I took a day at the movies. I got to watch Nobody 2, and let me say, if you’re looking for constant fights, pure rage, and lots of cussing, boy, this movie is for you. But there are also elements of togetherness, as the main character, Hutch, who is played by Bob Odenkirk, is on a family vacation, as well as elements of comedy. I never watched the first one, so I can’t give a backstory. So, I’m just going to focus on the sequel.
Hutch is a hitman, he works for an organization, and gets assignments to take out tons of “bad guys.” At times, he’s a little harsh, or should I say always. I won’t give spoilers (sorry guys!), but you should know that this film can be a little gruesome. I wouldn’t say gory; there wasn’t too much in that regard, but there was a lot of violence. So let’s get the main plot points down: Hutch, a middle-aged family man, has decided to take his family on vacation to an old resort he went to as a child. A run-down, little resort that was clearly outdated even for the ‘70s. His family, consisting of his son and daughter, along with his wife, all go to the resort, but there’s an added person; his own father wants to come along. David, Hutch’s father, makes this a huge burden for Hutch. Clearly, the two don’t get along, but the true reason Hutch is going on the trip? It’s a mission to get money to get out of debt. So he takes an assignment and goes to the resort with his family, trying to keep this mission hidden.
It turns gruesome quickly, and his family is soon in danger after a mishap at the resort. Suddenly, they’re all trying to protect themselves while Hutch is also trying to teach his kids to be good people and be a father. He finds himself tangled in the town’s affairs and soon battling the main leader of all of this.
Some highlights are the boat scene, as a huge fight breaks out between Hutch and some henchmen, and everyone seemingly does not notice it’s happening. Also, the appearance of Christopher Lloyd as David Mansell, the father of Hutch. Making witty jokes and funny entrances, he’ll have you laughing at the worst times possible, but he’ll probably make the most memorable part of the movie.
This movie has some really great messages, too! Such as family, or a theme of togetherness, since they add people to their “family” throughout, blood and non-blood relatives. Showing how you really can be one big family when going through something together. It also shows the importance of sticking up for what is right and not because you want something. Such as Hutch holding back fighting and hurting the enemy’s son (no spoilers), knowing that it would only make things worse. But knowing that it was the right thing, and the right thing to even protect those against him.
The actors in this film are: Bob Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell, Connie Neilsen as Becca Mansell, Sharon Stone as Lendina, Christopher Lloyd as David Mansell, Colin Hanks as Abel, RZA as Harry Mansell, Paisley Cadorath as Sammy Mansell, Gage Munroe as Brady Mansell, and John Ortiz as Wyatt Martin. There are many more actors, but these are the main characters.
Overall, this movie is for you if you like action, thrillers, some elements of comedy and family, and of course, a good movie, this is for you! I’d give this a four out of five since some parts made little sense or were cringy.
