As the leaves fall and the trees echo many hues of orange and yellow, students may be looking for something to do in the spirit of the season. No matter if it’s a pumpkin spice latte, a cardigan that feels like a warm hug, or even Halloween shopping, there is something available to suit anyone’s fall needs.
For example, the County Line Apple Orchard has a wide variety of fall drinks, donuts, fudge pies, and caramel apples for the season. If this starts to become dim, you can take a wagon ride pulled by tractors that will drop off everyone near the apple orchard. These fields have a wide variety of apples to choose from that can be used for baking and sharing with friends. Additionally, there are several corn mazes and train rides that are great for long stays.
Things really start to look like fall during the annual CHS Trunk or Treat. If looking to attend, families with children up to grade six can attend this event on Wednesday, October 29th. Tickets will be sold for five dollars for students and ten dollars for families. We need support from the community. Please bring canned goods/non-perishable food items that will be donated to the Westchester Neighbors Food Pantry. Trick or Treat is perfect for the fall mood and helps bring families together to celebrate the spooky season. Snacks and water will be available for purchase at the event to support the CHS Student Government.
In addition to the many wonderful things that CHS has to offer, many people are looking forward to fall break. It spans from the 24th of October to the 28th of October. Lots of teachers and students are traveling out of state for the season, some leaving for the Bahamas, while others are just doing day trips. If staying home, one can make paper-mache, go on a fall walk, read, bake fall treats, or even enjoy the outdoors.
There are also lots of markets that could benefit from sales, including the Coffee Creek Farmers Market. It is coming to an end on the 29th of October and is located at 2300 Village Point, Chesterton, IN. Every Saturday through October from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., there is a fall European Market at Broadway and Third Street. There are a lot of opportunities during the fall season to support the Chesterton community for what they do. This time of the year is always warm and cozy, and these events are great ways to demonstrate that.
