After a victorious season for the Chesterton High School Girls’ Golf team, stand-out players were named DAC All-Conference representatives, a prestige award bestowed upon the top golfers out of the entire Duneland Athletic Conference. A mere 10 players are selected each season, and CHS is home to two of them, junior Kristin McCoy and sophomore Taylor Kisic.
The All DAC honor is awarded to the golfers with the highest merit; a player’s scores are averaged out and compared with those of every other golfer in the conference. The top 10 athletes with the best average score for the season are deemed All Conference DAC players, and with this award comes high honor and admiration from the community.
McCoy and Kisic agree that the 2025 season was a successful one, a belief corroborated by the team finishing third in the final DAC standings. Kisic notes her preference for post-season versus regular, as she feels her game improved greatly as the season progressed. Obviously, for both Kisic and fellow golf prodigy McCoy, there were no lows during the 2025 season, only highs that improved upon the last.
Both players have spent their lives around the game of golf, so this badge of honor is reflective of more than skill, but also dedication. McCoy comes from a golf-oriented family, playing her whole life in the footsteps of her mother, Valparaiso University Women’s Golf coach Jill McCoy. Kisic learned the game from her grandfather, but found herself devoted on her own accord.
“It was kind of a last-minute freshman decision,” says Kisic on her high school golf journey, “and that summer I just decided ‘let’s try out golf’… then I really started focusing on my swing, the technique, and practicing every day.”
These two athletes are a prime example that hard work pays off; dedication and stamina are the best tools for building success, and Kisic and McCoy have built triumphant names for themselves in the Duneland Athletic Conference and beyond. Although always playing with the determination to continuously improve, the acknowledgment of their already advanced skills has conjured up more motivation than ever. McCoy notes her fondness for the 2025 season, as well as the added joy that being named an All-Conference star has provided. This incredible season was accomplished by ever-growing players, whose zeal for the game grows in suit.
“This made me more confident for next year, and more excited for what I can do,” says Kisic, her motivation already extending into next season.
The 2025 Girls’ Golf season could not have come to a better close than with two all-star players being recognized for what an asset they have been to their team. Kristin McCoy and Taylor Kisic pushed their team into the #3 spot in all of DAC with personal scores that ranked in the top ten amongst golfers from several wildly talented programs. The Chesterton High School community prides itself on athletes like Kisic and McCoy, who apply a phenomenal array of skills to the victory of the team as a whole.
