On Monday, December 1, the Journalism students (Newspaper and Yearbook) visited Beacon Academy at Valparaiso University, where they attended a college journalism class taught by Professor Paul Oren. They also enjoyed a campus tour led by Mrs. Shannon O’Brien Besedick, Director of Beacon Academy. During lunch, they enjoyed the opportunity to discuss university and journalism with Mr. Oren and Mrs. O’Brien Besedick.
The best part of the field trip was “the kindness of the people who showed us around and how we could tell that they were super excited about it, just as much as we were,” said sophomore June Peterson.
Journalism students who attended this event were: senior Sophia Sylvester, junior Layla Leon, sophomores Lorelai Simmons, Wren Balazs, June Peterson, Lily Escobar, and Camryn Rowton, and freshmen Milena Oresik, Helaina Adampooulos, Emmanuelle Engel, and Sage Wilhelm.
