“I started gymnastics 14 or 15 years ago. My sister was in it, and so she came home and taught me some stuff. I started flipping around the house, so my mom put me into gymnatsics and I continued doing it into high school.
Sectionals were really fun. My practices have been really consistent, so I was really confident, and I think that is a big part of it. If I went in scared, I wouldn’t have done as well. It was super exciting and fun because I wasn’t watching everyone else’s scores, so I didn’t know where I stood. So when they did scores, I was surprised. When they announced bars, I didn’t hear my name. When they got to first, I was really shocked that I tied. It was a big accomplishment because bars have never really been a good event for me. It is really good to see how much I have grown in it in the past two years.
The team, before every big meet, brings in a goodie bag with snacks, socks, or games to play. We have coloring books, or we play Uno. It’s something to get your mind off the competition. ”
This Saturday, Boster will compete in Regionals at Portage. If she places top 6 in an event or overall, she will go to State at Ball State University.
Also in Sectionals, Leah Douglass placed 16th overall, and Adriana Perez placed 25th on the floor.
Valparaiso took the Sectional Championship.
