On March 7, 2026, the Chesterton Trojans defeated the Valparaiso Vikings 59–50 at home to earn the IHSAA Class 4A Sectional 2 championship and advance to Regionals. Chesterton held a narrow 27–26 halftime lead before the Trojans pulled away in the second half.
The Trojans opened sectional play with a 66–53 victory over Merrillville and followed with a 56–52 win against Portage to reach the championship game on Saturday.
Chesterton entered the sectional championship game with confidence against Valparaiso. Earlier in the regular season, the Trojans dominated the Vikings 75–33.
With the Sectional win, Chesterton completed a three-game postseason stretch against Duneland Athletic Conference rivals, defeating Merrillville, Portage, and Valparaiso to claim the championship and continue its tournament run.
This win adds to the 2019, 2022, and 2023 Sectional Titles.
The Trojans (22-4) begin regional play on Saturday, March 14. They will face the Crown Point Bulldogs (22-1) at Michigan City High School at 7 pm. Student passes will not work for regional gameplay; please purchase your tickets online.
