Following the highly anticipated International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Arts Show coming up this week, IB Arts is hosting a callout meeting for students hoping to participate in the program during the 2026-27 school year. This informational meeting will take place on April 8 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in room D219, which belongs to Mrs. McGuirl, the IB Visual Arts teacher. During the hour, students will learn the ins and outs of the programming, including requirements for acceptance and expectations for the class.
IB Visual Arts is a selective course, meaning students who apply will not automatically make it into the class. Students must create a portfolio on Google Slides, demonstrating the extent of their artistic ability, creativity, and experimentation. Applications are due April 15, and the class roster will be posted April 17.
The IB Visual Arts Show is a fantastic opportunity to assess your interest in the program. This Thursday and Friday, many high school students will be viewing the work of their peers with their classes, but attendance is free and encouraged for anyone during those two days. The show is the perfect time to observe the artistic demographic of IB Visual Arts and decide if it is right for you.
More information will be provided at the callout meeting. If you are not able to attend or have any pressing questions, email McGuirl via her address below. IB Visual Arts is one of the most beloved courses at Chesterton High School, so be sure to check it out!
