As Chesterton High School gets ready to perform Charlotte’s Web, the official cast has not yet been announced. Being guided by French teacher Mr. Morris, the team will learn key fundamentals. The play is hopefully coming to CHS on April 23, 2026. The show is shaping up to be a success as they have a lot of experienced people helping out. Mr. Morris is still in the process of teaching everyone how to bring this classic story to life and plans to make it a wonderful show.
This post is designed to highlight the hidden backstory of theater. People often wonder what they actually do behind the curtains. Freshman Avianna Murray is one of the many cast members expected to help out. We asked Murray about her experience with performing arts and if there are any updates that she can give us about the show. She noted that the set for Charlotte’s web is going to be “really cool and they have a nice design for it.” Murray explained that the show is going to be very professional and top-notch. However, they will not be wearing ears or snouts for the animals. “For the people that plan to come and watch it, the show will be beautiful and unique,” she explained.
Murray is not the only one helping out with this production. There are many other students at CHS that will play an important role. Freshman Emily Clark will be portraying Fern Arable. “I think that they did a good job following the storyline of the book while also making it good for the stage,” Clark explained. She announced that they started rehearsals this week and will continue to practice on Mondays and Wednesdays. Clark revealed an interesting detail about theater that most people do not know. She explained that,“We started blocking for Act 1. This means that everyone has a general place where they will stand for different scenes.” Mr. Morris and his cast are working hard to make it the best play possible. Make sure to go see the show this April!
