Congratulations to the CHS Trojan and Color Guard for their recent accomplishments! The Trojan/Color Guard went to the 2025 ISSMA Semi-State competition, which is a big deal because this was the first time since 2012 that they had gotten this far in the season. 

Just to let those know, the Color Guard is part of the Trojan Guard, and Trojan Guard is the overall big group. They compete together. On top of making it to the Semi-State level, they also were in the Open Class A Group, which means that they had to compete against the top best schools, many of them being private or well-funded schools. There are several groups schools can be in. These include Open Class A, Open Class B, Open Class C, and Open Class D. Open Class A being the highest and most advanced and/or top competitors, and Open Class D is the lowest rank.

 The CHS Trojan Guard has worked endless hours, perfecting their routines for the competitions. Since June, they have had many practices, including a mini camp that went from somewhere from 2pm to 9pm. They also had a Band camp around the last week of July from 9am to 9pm. During the school year they have had Monday practices, occasionally Tuesday, and alternated between Wednesday and Thursday practices. Wednesday/Thursday practices were from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Tuesday’s were from 3:30 to 5:30. Before competitions, the Trojan/Color Guard made sure to have extra practice time. 

While the Trojan Guard has 115 people (This includes 25 color guard people) in their group which may seem like a lot, some schools have over 290 people in theirs, which is 175 more people than CHS’s. We are so proud of our color guard at Chesterton High school and hope for another awesome season next year. A special thanks to Emily Clark. Tryouts for winter guard are on the 18th this November.
